About the Composer

John Dominick Carratello has been writing and performing songs since he was a boy. His style spans a wide range of expression, from warm and intimate to thought-provoking and intense.

He has written songs in many genres, including political satire, as in his humorous, “NO COW LEFT BEHIND,” featured on this web site. In 2007, the song won first place in the National Education Association’s (NEA) song competition.

Another featured song, “CHARLIE,” was written from his own family’s devastating experience with Alzheimer’s. This song will touch your heart. John was recently invited to perform “Charlie” at the 2008 National Commemorative Candle Lighting held at Cocoa, Florida’s Riverfront Park, in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, to remember and honor Americans who have been or will be affected by Alzheimer's or related illnesses.

At that event, John took the opportunity to debut his newest song, "HEAL AMERICA." If ever a song was well-timed, this one is it! With a prayer-like refrain, the song speaks to both the disillusionment and hopes of those who grew up with a different vision of America's future, of "what we thought it would be like by now."

If you like what you hear on this web site, drop him a line and let him know. Let other's know, too!
